Today is an exciting day. We are participating in the Spellbinders 2015 Spring Fever Partner Blog Hop. This is day 1 of the hop and there are two more days to follow. You may want to start here so that you don't miss any of the inspiration and festivities. Our friends at Spellbinders have provided two of our Design Team members with dies and as you will see, they work so well with our inks, stamps and patterned paper! Let's get to the projects shall we? Be sure to go all the way to the bottom of this post to enter to win a giveaway from Spellbinders and one from us right here on our blog!
This first project is by our very own Katie Gehring. Isn't this gorgeous?!
"I used the Spellbinders Die D-Lites Butterfly die
along with Avery Elle’s Amazing Stamp Set to create a colorful card for
my daughter. She went camping with her Girl Scout troop over the
weekend and it’s been a tradition that I tuck a handmade card in her
journal so that she know we are thinking about her and looking forward
to hearing about her adventures. The Butterfly D-Lites die is so
gorgeously intricate all on it’s own, but I decided to alter it a bit by
covering it with a wash of rainbow colors.
To
make the rainbow butterfly, I die cut the butterfly from watercolor
paper and sponged on Distress Ink. I continued adding ink with a sponge
dauber until the butterfly die cut was filled in completely.
To soften and blend the colors, I brushed over the die cut with a wet paint brush and I sprayed it with glimmer mist.
After
allowing some time for the die cut to dry, I used foam tape to adhere
the butterfly to a black card stock panel on which I had stamped and
heat embossed the sentiment from the Amazing stamp set.
I
love the contrast between the black and white with the rainbow-colored
butterfly. The black and white patterned paper is from the Neutral Collection paper pad. It’s hard to see in the pictures, but the shimmer
spray adds a nice touch of sparkle too. "
Karolyn Loncon created this next project. I adore the sweet scene that she created!!
It is fabulous!
1. Trim A2-sized card base from Pure
White CS.
2. Die Cut largest die from Labels 44
from Pure White CS; use trimmer to cut in half, vertically.
3. On a scrap piece of Pure White CS,
blend Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks with
ink blending tool. Die cut hot air
balloon using the Up and Away die from inked panel.
4. Die cut tassels and basket banner
from New Moon CS; adhere basket banner to basket with liquid adhesive.
5. Trim a 4.25 x 5.5 inch panel from Sea
Glass CS; stamp sun rays from Bright Days Stamps using VersaMark.
6. Adhere the Labels 44 halves to the
Sea Glass panel using temporary adhesive; die cut both using Finished Frames
Elle-Ments.
7. Stamp sentiment from Bright Days with
VersaMark and heat emboss with black embossing powder.
8. Assemble the card with foam tape;
adhere acrylic dots with liquid adhesive.
