In honor of Mother's Day this coming Sunday I thought that it would be fun to post a few Mother / Daughter projects throughout this week. Today I am so happy to show a project that my 10 year old daughter, Paige, made last weekend with a bit of my help. It was all her idea to stamp on white canvas shoes and it was so fun to work on it together.
We started with these inexpensive shoes that we found at Target and used painters tape to mask the bottom rubber edge of the shoe as shown.
After masking the shoe we stuffed them full of tissue to make the canvas a firmer surface to stamp on. Paige chose the sunglasses from our Hipster-potamus clear photopolymer stamp set and stamped them in VersaCraft ink onto the canvas in a random pattern. I helped hold the shoe into place while she stamped. Occasionally an image wouldn't stamp perfectly. In those cases, I used a Fantastix and dabbed it into the ink pad to carefully fill in the gaps in the images for her. Paige then picked out the mustache stamp from our What's Up clear photopolymer stamp set and stamped those in a random pattern to fill out the shoes. Paige picked out these fun shoelaces to dress the shoes up even more.
I have to say that these were a big hit with her 5th grade friends at school yesterday. I have a feeling that we may be making a few more sets for birthday gifts! Perfect for a tween and a lot of fun to make together!
Thanks for stopping by to take a peek. Have a great day!
What a great DIY project for kids.
