So Kind Week - Day 2

Hello friends,

Katie here with a card to share with you today featuring a sentiment from the So Kind stamp set. I love the fresh and fun mix of lettering on this sentiment set; it really compliments so many different images and occasions. For my card, I paired the "Hip Hip Hooray" sentiment with the original Peek-A-Boo Pals stamp set.

First, I blended a panel of water color card stock with two shades of Distress Oxide inks (Peacock Feathers and Dried Marigold). I left some white space between the two colors so they wouldn't blend together to make a muddy green. I spattered the blended panel with water and white paint. Once the panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment in black ink.

I stamped the Peek-A-Boo pals onto white card stock and colored them with Copic makers.  I used the coordinating dies to cut out the Pals and a few of the stars included in the stamp set. I adhered the largest Wonky Scalloped rectangle at an angle onto the water color panel and tucked the Pals and their paws towards the bottom of the frame.  As a finishing touch, I added a few clear sequins before adhering the completed panel to a white notecard.

I hope this card makes you want to celebrate and shout "Hip Hip Hooray" for the So Kind stamp set!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

So Kind Week - Day 1

Hey there, Caryn here today with a card featuring the fabulous sentiments from the So Kind set.  I love the scripty font in this set.

I started with a piece of water colour cardstock and blotted some liquid water colours on to it (Sugar Plum and Cherry).  I then used the Rays die in my Gemini foil press with gold foil to deboss the design onto the card stock (love using dies in this way).

I stamped the Thinking Of You sentiment onto a circle of white card using Versamark and then heat embossed it with Avery Elle Gold embossing powder.  To finish I splattered some gold spritz spray onto the front of the panel and adhered it to a white card base.

To create my card, I first stamped and die cut the images from the Phenomenal stamp set. Then, I added a sentiment and stamped the flowers on the bowl.

To assemble the card, I die cut the large Oval Burst die and then ink blended a background. Finally, I assembled it all with dimensional foam and added some finishing sequins.

Phonomenal Week - Day 4

Hi Everyone! Ashley here! Are you having a Phonomenal week?! ;)

Let's check out the Phonomenal stamp set...

I had the best Ramen in New York last week and it was the inspiration for my card today. I started by stamping, die cutting coloring the bowl and small food items and chop sticks. It was fun to bring life to the stamps by adding the happy faces.

Next, I water colored a simple background, added all the fun pieces and then stamped the steam and sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

Phonomenal Week - Day 3

Hello friends!

Katie here to share an idea with you today to add a little dimension to your paper crafting. 3-D embellishments and elements can make a card extra special. With the Phonomenal stamp set, I fashioned a set of bamboo chopsticks using kabob skewers.

To make the chopsticks, I snipped off the tip of two bamboo skewers.  I used a nail file to smooth the cut ends of the bamboo skewers. I wrapped a small length of thin washi tape around the top of the skewers to add a decorative elements to the tiny chopsticks.

I stamped the images from the Phonomenal stamp set and colored them with Copic Markers. I die cut the images using the coordinating Phonomenal Elle-ments dies.  To ground the images, I blended some Distress Oxide ink onto a panel of watercolor paper, and I placed the bowl on a piece of patterned paper from The Happy Collection paper pad. I adhered all the Pho toppings to the bowl before placing and glueing the chopsticks to the card.

I hope this inspires you to find ways to incorporate a little dimension into you next paper project.  Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing part of your day with me!

Phonomenal Week - Day 2

Hi there!

It's Yainea here on the blog today. I'm sharing a card featuring the Phonomental stamp set and coordinating dies. I love big images that can easily be the main focus on a card like the bowl in this set. I love all the little elements that are also included to customize your bowl of food.

I started by coloring the background with Distress inks and a blending tool. Then I sprinkled some water, orange ink and gold ink all over the panel to give it more texture and some shine. I wanted to match the golden drops somehow so I rubbed two stripes of cardstock with versamark ink and heat embossing them completely using Rich Gold metallic powder.

Then, I continued by stamping, die cutting and coloring all of the pieces for my scene. For the bowl I used a patterned paper and then I added some shadows with a pair of blue markers.

Finally, I assembled everything together and stamped the sentiment with blue ink. I enjoyed a lot the creation process of this card, the bold colors that adds energy (and hot to the pho) and the golden shine that are very pretty in person.

I hope you like my project for today! Thank you so much for stopping by and have a phonomenay day! *wink*

Cute Projects by Guest Designer Kelly Martin

Hi Everyone!  I am so excited to have Kelly Martin, a guest designer for us, on the blog today showing off some of her amazing cards!  I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do!!  Be sure to check out her blog for loads more inspiration! She graciously shows her process to us below.

Hey there, friends!

I'm so crazy excited to be a guest here on the Avery Elle blog today! Many thanks to Jamie for the invitation!

Today I'd like to share with you 3 different processes for scene-making on your cards, so let's get right to it!

1. Paper piecing with die cuts

I made the card base and card panel first. I used a postage die to cut out a piece of gray kraft cardstock (for the frame) and a piece of white cardstock (the for the scene panel), and glued the gray frame down to a cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base.

I started out by creating the sky and ground by masking off the top portion first and ink blending the ground. Then I switched the position of the mask and ink blended the sky.

The rest of the card was pretty easy to put together! All it takes is stamping out some images, coloring them with any medium you want and then using your dies to cut out the images.

In this case, I actually used my scissors to cut out the images because I didn't have the matching dies! Don't forget this great money-saving option! I then arranged them on the card front with foam tape to finish off the scene.

2. Create a mini-scene

It only takes a few minutes to pull together a mini-scene for a card! I just used a few elements and--voila! I die cut a panel using the Pierced Mat Element die, stamped and colored some images from the Toucan Party set and then made my ground and sky.

Here's a great tip: Think about how you can use some of your dies in more than one way! I used this cloud die as both ground and sky! All is takes is just applying the ink on two separate pieces and then flipping one upside down to use as the ground!

I trimmed off the edges of the clouds and sky and then mounted the mini scene on to a gray craft mat piece, and then glued it down to a cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch white card base which I'd previously covered with a 4.25 x 5.5 inch piece of patterned paper. I stamped a sentiment at the bottom to finish off the card

3. One Layer Masking

Sometimes masking can be so intimidating, but when you have the right stamp set--it's really manageable! But it does take a little planning, which is really helpful when you have a tool like the MISTI.

I thought about the images I wanted to use and then stamped them on to a full size post it note to use as a mask.

I then arranged the rest of my stamps into my misti so that I knew what the layout would be before stamping a few of the images on to my cut and scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch card base and placing my masks on top of the images.

After removing the masks, I discovered I'd made a masking error! So I quickly drew another line and then recovered nicely. I DARE YOU to find the mistake!

I finished stamping all the images and then colored everything with my copics.

As a finishing touch, I took my black pen and drew stitched lines around the border of the card.

Thanks so much for joining me here on the blog today! I hope these ideas have inspired you to dive deeper into the world of scene-making and create your own little masterpieces!

You've Got This Week - Day 4

Hi Everyone! It's Ashley here on the blog today. I'm sharing the You've Got This stamp set today. The sentiments in this set are so thoughtful and perfect for so many occasions. Let me show you what I made.

I started my card with the water colored background. These are all colors from Avery Elle's amazing liquid water color line. Next I die cut, then stamped the large sentiment. I adhered the pieces together and then added the small sentiment. How perfect do those little letters stamp? I love it!

This is such a simple card but I love how it turn out.

You've Got This Week - Day 3

Hello!  Amy here with a card using a small stamp set called You've Got This.  It has one large sentiment with many small supporting sentiments that can be used for many difficult occasions where you just don't know what to say.

Youve Got This

I started with the Quilted Frame Die done in white cardstock.  Since this frame has an opening in the center, Broken China Distress Ink was blended in the center.  After adhering the frame, I began working on some older but gorgeous blooms from Floral Bouquet.  I white heat embossed the blooms using Pure White Fine Embossing Powder and used the Emboss Resist technique to add color with Distress Inks Worn Lipstick, Broken China, and Squeezed Lemonade/Mustard Seed.  All the images were die cut using the Floral Bouquet Elle-ments and adhered to the notecard with foam adhesive.

The sentiment takes center stage when done in black with the layering die cut done in white.  This was added across the panel and a white heat embossed sentiment strip was added over the top with foam adhesive.  A few white gems were added to finish the card.

You've Got This Week - Day 1

Hey there, I'm over on the Avery Elle Blog today with a card featuring a fabulous little set called You've Got This.   It has a gorgeous feature sentiment that also has a two-layered accompanying die and then lots of great encouraging extra sentiments for lots of different (and difficult) occasions.

I started with a white card base and blended some Lemon Grass and Sea Glass inks to give a little colour to the background.  I then took some aqua coloured cardstock and made a panel using the Embellished Heart die to make an aperture.  I wrapped some Midnight Twine around the panel then popped it on the card front using foam tape.

I finished off the card by die-cutting the two layers of the sentiment in black and white card and adhered it across the heart aperture.

Market Stand Week - Day 4

Hey everyone! It's Heather Campbell here. How are you all doing today?

I'm so excited to be here sharing my latest card using the new Market Stand stamp set.  Don't you jut love this market stand?  It's so fun, especially with the Peek-a-Boo Pals line.

For my card, I thought it'd be fun to share how I add a pattern to the base of the market stand.

First, I took post it notes and placed them strategically along the stamped line of my die cut image.  Then, I stamped the inner images.

As you can see, once I remove the post it notes, the lemons are perfectly masked and appear as part of the lager set. I love using accessory images in just this way!

Market Stand Week - Day 3

Hello friends,

Katie here with a fun card to share today featuring the Market Stand stamp set.  I just love the Market Stand stamp set.  It features so many great images and accessories that make it truly versatile; plus it pairs so well with the all the adorable Peek-a-Boo animal sets.

I stamped the images with Avery Elle's dye ink and colored them with Copic Markers.  I die cut the images using the coordinating dies and arranged them on a panel that I colored using two shades of Distress Oxide inks (Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade).

I framed the scene using the Reverse Pinked Elle-ments dies, which happens to be on sale right now in the Avery Elle store!  A speech bubble from the Peek-a-Boo Pets stamp set finishes off the card.

Market Stand Week - Day 2

Hi there!

Elena here, with a card combining images from both Market Stand and Peek-A-Boo Pets. I can't get enough of these 2 sets together!

I couldn't decide which critter I would want a hug from, so I crammed 3 of them in there. ha. I stamped, and die-cut all of my images (Market Stand dies and Peek-A-Boo Pets dies) and then colored everything using copic markers. I've had a few die misshaps in the past, where my die shifted in the machine, so I always color after I've die-cut.

Isn't it so cute how you can change the personality of these critters by how you decide to position their hands? (paws, hooves, whatever.) The cow with his one hoof slung around the pole of the stand... so cute!

Once I figured out my layout, I matted the focal images using rectangle dies, and added a strip of patterned paper to the left side of the card (from the Sorbet paper collection.)

I just love the sheep peeking up from the top of the "free hugs" stand! I hope you like it too! Thanks for stopping by!

♥.
